Anson Mount Biography

Anson Mount is a renowned American actor best known for his television roles as Cullen Bohannon in the AMC western drama series Hell on Wheels, as well as Jim Steele on the short-lived NBC series Conviction. He was also one of the original contributing editors of ‘Playboy’ magazine.

Mount developed an interest in becoming an actor from a very young age and had the full support of his parents. Anson graduated from Dickson County High School in Dickson, Tennessee. He attended classes at the Michael Howard Studios in New York City and later joined the University of the South for his BA degree. Anson also pursued an MFA degree in theatre from Columbia University.

He made his acting debut as Kevin Wah in the American legal comedy-drama series ‘Ally McBeal’ and proved himself to be an instant success. He was then nominated for a Teen Choice Award for Best Chemistry with Britney Spears for his cast as Ben Kimble in the film Crossroads.
