He is widely considered one of the greatest and most influential exponents of the bolero and one of the most popular of all time worldwide.[2] It is estimated that Gatica released more than 90 recordings. He toured across the world, performing in Europe, the Middle East and Asia. He was the uncle of the record producerHumberto Gatica.
